All prices are in US dollars, and are exclusive of postage. They do not include the cost of the model. They do, however, cover costs from start to finish - so from cleaning and assembly to varnishing and basing. Most standard basing is included in the price, although more elaborate basing may attract a separate charge (there are examples in the basing gallery).
I've included some pics where I have recent examples - some of my older pics are unrepresentative of my painting style these days.
Army models
I charge per model for army commissions. The prices are listed as a range because specific model types or colour schemes may vary the price slightly. I've given some examples to clarify categories in some cases, but this is only to give an idea - some models don't fit neatly into categories (eg a Carnifex or a Wraithlord- is it a just big greebly or a detailed character? Depends how you want it done).
Troop models/rank and file: $12-15, $20 for sergeants, musicians, special weapons etc.
Elite-type models: $30-45 eg troop terminators, jetpack models, minor characters etc - models that need a bit more attention than a footsoldier but don't quite warrant the big bucks :-).
Cavalry/bikes/battlesuits: $40-70 (eg $40 for a bike or basic cavalry, $60 for a crisis suit or more complex cavalry etc, $70 for a broadside)
Small/simple vehicles: $60-100 eg Rhino-sized tanks, sentinels, dreadnoughts
Large/more complex vehicles: $80-150 eg Landraiders, chariots, steamtanks
Small greebly monsters: $50-80 eg trolls, minotaurs, ogres, dragonogres
Large greebly monsters: $80-200 eg giants, dragons, greater demons
Character models
Armies and characters are based on a very different scale, as it takes considerably more time per model to paint an individual figure than it does to paint a unit of identical/similar models. Most characters should also receive more attention than a standard footsoldier. Conversions, freehand, and the use of different techniques may also up the ante on a character. Because of this, I would prefer to finalise pricing on characters after some discussion, but I'm going to list some examples here to show a range.
$50-100 for an unconverted character on foot
$80-180 for a large model, a model on horseback, bike (or other, similar sized mount such as a lizard)
$100-200 for a model on a large mount eg a demonic steed.
$250+ for models on dragonback (or similarly large and complex beasties)
Adding conversions into the mix will vary the price - a simple conversion (eg a weapons swap) on a character from the upper end of the price scale may not add anything, but some extensive conversion work may be charged at a separate rate, eg $100 paintjob + $100 conversion = $200 character. It really depends on the model. One way to approach this if the budget is limited is to start with a budget and then plan the model based around that - eg greenstuff work tends to take longer than using bitz, but it might be cheaper to sculpt on a robe than buy a figure with a robe and cut it in half. And so forth :-).
