Wood Elf Gladeriders
These models picked up a Gold in the Oz Golden Demons in 2005, and were commissioned to be in a winter scheme - I decided to keep it very cold in colour and the overall effect is quite harmonious. The horses are all converted with the addition of the triangular-shaped caparisons. One of the toughest things about this unit was assembling them so that they'd all fit together on a movement tray! There are so many sideways-sweeping fabric pieces that it was quite fiddly. The main pattern motif is a spiral, and is used in different sizes and colours on the fabric, as little facial tattoos, and on the horses as well. Mostly I focused on being as smooth and clean as possible, and sticking to the palette of grey and blue - the gold is cold-toned, as are the brown areas such as leather and wood.
