Chaos army
Painted in a version of the Warp Ghosts colour scheme in the Chaos codex. I got so sick of Rotting Flesh... I don't think I've used it again yet :-). Because blending from black to rotting flesh for an entire army would be insanely time-consuming (and so prohibitively expensive), I came up with an alternative look that uses a kinda streaky weathered looking black shading, a little blending, and some glazing. A bit of a pain, but it looks quite striking, particularly on the tanks where the surfaces are large enough to show it.
My second favourite part of the army (after the tanks) is the berserker unit with Kharne. I was asked to either use a classic berserker scheme, or make them like the army 'but more bloody'. Thinking that the last one sounded a bit more interesting I went in that direction. So, where the regular marines are shaded with black, the Khornate figure are shaded with deep red brown. They're still highlighted with the grey green and rotting flesh, but after that they were glazed with a mix of chestnut (or possibly flesh), black and magenta ink. The pics aren't quite accurate in colour, as they look quite a bit redder/brighter in person, but they show how they still fit into the main army scheme while looking Khornate. The green and red combination gives their armour a lot of depth and interest.
Tanks:
Dreadnought:
Obliterators, old and new - the new guy has a lot of ink glazing (purple, magenta, blue) to give him an unhealthy look:
Havocs, old and new:
Bikers:
Terminators - I went with blue for power weapons in the army, so there's a kind of tetrad thing
happening with the green/red and the blue/warm gold:
Raptors:
Berserkers:
Troops galore, old and new models:
Abaddon:
Champion:
Kharne:
Sorceror:
The whole army, looking deceptively small:
